American Airlines Style Flight Jacket

AMERICAN AIRLINES STYLE GOATSKIN FLIGHT JACKET

NOTE TO AMERICAN AIRLINES PILOTS:
Pop's Leather offers the same style coat worn by American Airlines crewmembers, however many pilots want to modify their coats different from the exact AA management approved design. Our descriptions and ordering features allow you to "build" the coat the way you choose. On the option list items which are part of the standard management approved design are designated by an "AAA", for "approved", and options which are not company standard are designated by a "PPP" for "Personal Option". If neither of these appears, this means this option has no affect the look of the coat.

This flight jacket is not the same as the American Eagle flight jacket. It's close, but has a few subtle differences. Nor is it the same as an Air Force A-2 or a FedEx style flight jacket, which have several glaring differences.

THE APPROVED DESIGN:

The jacket has a roomy and comfortable cut, action back with gussets, ventilated underarm extensions, high quality knit cuffs and waist, integrated front wind fly, snaps at the top and bottom of the one piece wind fly with hidden top and bottom snaps, genuine YKK brass front zipper, front patch pockets with hidden snap closures, fully finished slash hand warmer pockets, snapped down collar and sewn down leather epaulettes. The inside of the coat is finished with a high quality silky black polyester blend lining. Your name is embossed on an inside name tag and your employee number is permanently stamped on the inside flap of the left outside patch pocket.

The inside pocket configuration includes two interior zippered pockets, an open top interior leather pocket, a vertical "G-1" style map pocket with snap closure and an interior pen pocket.

Each coat is custom made to your measurement and option choices delivered in approximately two weeks or 5 business days if express service is selected. All coats are 100% guaranteed.

APPROVED DESIGN SELECTABLE ITEMS:

The company approved design has an embroidered inside lining with the basic American Eagle logo. However, we do not add an aircraft to the embroidery. (By not selecting this option there will be no interior embroidery in your coat).

The company approved design includes a Velcro attached black nametag with American Airlines wings and your name embroidered at the bottom. You can choose to have the nametag come with a small brass loop on the bottom to clip on your identification tag. You receive a blank nametag to wear when off duty.

Captain or First Officer epaulette rank is available.

PERSONAL DESIGN OPTION:

The biggest issue for American Airlines pilots is the knit waist and cuffs on the company approved design. The material used by Pop's is a very high quality polyester knit, which will last you your entire career with little or no wear or pilling. Pop's coats made over ten years ago have knit on them that looks and feels almost brand new. Any minor pilling is easily solved by one of those battery powered pill removers. Do not confuse Pop's high quality knit with the lower quality knit found on issued U.S. military G-1 and A-2 jackets or on coats made by several other manufacturers. However, if you still do not want a knit waist or cuffs you can choose leather cuffs and leather waist, the waist having sewn in elastic in the rear.

You can have hidden snapped down epaulettes in place of the standard sewn down epaulettes at no extra charge.

GENERAL OPTION LIST:

We HIGHLY recommend an insulation option for your coat to extend its seasonal wear. There are three primary insulation options: zip out 3M Thinsulate no arms vest, zip out 3M Thinsulate vest with detachable arms or sewn in 3M Thinsulate. You can also order a zip out wool vest.

The company logo can be embroidered in middle of any zip out liner except the wool.
